The elastic string name tags are horrible especially when the the string
has become entangled in your hair!

The clip-ons are the best by far and I've used them all:

Clips (only downside is that some clothing does not have a convenient
place to clip them so just put them on your purse handle in that event,
easy to get on and off, don't make holes in fragile material, etc. or
cause injury to you when they are in your purse and you are fumbling for
them in the dark)

Pins (can leave holes and tear and snag thin material such as travel
knits) and injure you and others!

Strings (hard to get on and off over hair, uncomfortable on the neck,
and often get in the way as they dangle down into your food, etc.)

Stick on - (not durable and can leave residue or otherwise damage some
fragile fabrics)
