Following up on several items that came up during the survey (and one
that did not ...)

I have to agree. Somebody followed up by saying that the clip-on was
the best bet for not ruining clothing. I'm sorry, but a metal clip?
On silk? On anything hand knit? I think not. I wound up not using
it for some events and clipping it to my purse for others.

I'll look for plastic clip alternative or something that converts
easily from a lanyard to a clip like I've seen at a few conferences.
If I find anything promising I'll bring it up on the organizer mailing
list.

I see that Paris rated as "Very Uncomfortable" overall on the survey,
which surprised me since I stayed there, loved it, and did respond to
the survey. It's possible I responded incorrectly. How many people
stayed there this year?

None of the staff made me feel the slightest bit uncomfortable, and
even guests in the elevators were no problem at all. I wouldn't
recommend it to anyone self-conscious because you have to walk through
very busy areas to get anywhere from your room but even on Night of
the Soiled Doves I didn't have any problems.

Google maps also listed the address as 3111, and so following
directions on my iPhone led me to the same parking lot as one other
bewildered attendee. The building was clearly numbered 3111 and was
definitely a block or so west of the correct place. We drove further
and finally found the sign for the Blue Ox and I noticed that the
street address was definitely different - 3065 was my memory of what
was actually posted on the building.

Given that more than one of us had the same problem, perhaps someone
in LV could do a drive-by to confirm?

That's the one show I took the time to see on my own this year. I
attended the 10:30pm showing on Wednesday and had a great time, so I
think that's a great idea for 2009. One thing to keep in mind is that
the priciest seats invite interaction with the cast which might be
more attention than many would want. I was happy to be one row back,
avoiding attention.

> ... someplace in the the BDR or some other document ...

I keep seeing references to the BDR but I have no idea what it is!
Please help keep Diva friendly for newcomers by avoiding "in crowd"
terminology.

I agree 100%! There was too much whining about the selection of
drinks and snacks in our car. Setting the expectation that you should
bring what you plan to consume makes it easier on everyone.

ONE LAST THING

I talked to quite a few people at DLV that were surprised to hear
there were any gatherings at all on Sunday. I know these weren't
exactly high-profile events, but it seemed odd that they weren't on
the master schedule and were simply buried in some other message.
There was so much pre-Diva mail I had trouble finding the details when
the time came and had to resort to a full-text search of my mailbox to
find them!

Next year, I'd recommend putting the pre-DLV gatherings on the master
schedule just so everyone has a shot at getting there. I'm planning
to volunteer to format the schedule a few different ways so people can
easily download PDFs and print either full details or quick cheat-
sheets and bring them along.

When I saw the first posting on this subject I pulled a Blue Ox coupon
out of my wallet, and the address listed on their own coupon is indeed
3111. I believe the confusion comes in, because I believe that that is
the Valley View address for that whole complex of buildings on Valley
View. So some further clarification may be needed.

Blue Ox is indeed at 3111 S. Valley View. It's in that large commercial
complex, about 25 buildings. The exact location of the Blue Ox is on the
southwest corner of Valley View and Sirius. It's easiest to see if your
going south on Valley View, and it's on the right (west) side. Parking
is slightly to the west, go right (west) on Sirius and then make a hard
left into the driveway to park in the lots.

Hope this helps. J. geographically inspired here in warm LV.

I like the idea of a lanyard. I will bring one next time to DLV,
to use with the name tag.

However, if we do issue them with the name tags, the price for them
can be expensive when one talks about getting 100 or more.

It might be something one can bring from home to avoid having to
clip it on to something.

In past conferences dealing with work, I gotten a few, and I found
it was easier to use than finding a nice place to clip in on the top
I was wearing.

It just hangs from the neck and doesn't create holes
or tears or creases on the top one is wearing.

I personally find it easier to just throw it over my head than to
spend time thinking where to clip it on and how it hangs down, or
how it might damage the material or find a pocket or collar to
hang it from...etc.

I think its also less noticeable or eye catching than wearing it
on the chest or neck area, but still very official looking.

The only other thing is that I see a few wearing it at all DLV
activities. Most don't after the first night that they get it.

Name Tags.

Yes a good idea for some of us with short memories. If you don't like
wearing one then don't. I can always ask your name if I need to, "Not as
shy these days as I used to be". I can see how the more experienced and
confident wouldn't want to wear them.

How about those stick on labels you write your own name on, A small
version maybe? You know, the ones that peel off and stick on? and every
Hotel room has a (free) pen. Except the Delmar???? I know, It's gone
now, Pens and all! Tsk tsk tsk! If we carried several in the old handbag
we could stick on and tear off at will. As I remember they don't damage
sports coats or shirts, although I have never used one on a dress.

There is the possibility however that Name tags would bring attention
to an individual by the Redneck's etc'

Maybe the best thing ti do is bring your own carrier, designed to hold
a standard card. I don't care for the lanyards, since they conflict
with jewelery or wardrobe. I prefer the clip ons. I brought my own
this past year.
