My general thoughts and comments on the comments....
>I had more fun dancing at a mainstream venue this year than
>I can remember in a long time. Please include mainstream
>(non-alternative, non-gay) after hours venues as options if
>they've proven to be accepting in the past.
Which venues did you go to?
>How about a Cirque show?
We did the Beatles Love show in '07 which was fantastic. I
believe the Wynn show this year (which I did not attend)
was a Cirque show as well. You are always welcome to
volunteer to coordinate it!
>Also, with all the Biggest Loser talk, how about a daily
>aerobic exercise program? There's got to be a local gym
>that will do this for us.
Exercise classes will take away from valuable Buffet time!!!!
Ummm, oh....
>There is a "time" scheduled for each, but I gather this
>is nominal. I discovered that DLV attendees frequently would
>just go in and find each other and sit down prior to the
>scheduled "time". Unaware of this habit, I showed up at
>the Paris lunch "on time" and waited for a half hour, outside.
>Nobody showed, so I left. Turned out they were all inside, early.
I coordinated the Paris lunch, which was scheduled for 12:30. I
know we waited outside until at least 12:30 before going in. I
apologize for missing you.
>perhaps a night at the movies
The biggest problem with a movie night is this - when have you
gone to the movies and not had to go to the bathroom immediately
afterward? In a large group I see nothing but problems. Also,
most movie theaters are 80% teenagers. Even for more experienced
gals this can be problematic.
>My only real issue this year is that I thought the Limo Ride was
>disorganized........ When we arrived at the Four Queens, we
>stayed there for an excessive amount of time with nothing to
>do....... the limos seemed to leave and arrive without regard
>to any schedule so we were early and didn't know how long we
>were supposed to be in any location adn when we should leave.
I agree. I'm interested in knowing if schedules were provided to
the drivers? In the future I think the limo tour needs to be a
lot more structured, so the drivers AND the passengers know that,
for example, "at 9:20 everyone needs to be back in their limo to
leave for the next stop". I know you can never account for Strip
traffic, but I think there needs to be targeted arrival and
departure times for each stop. If we run late, there can be a
general rule of "We will stay at this location for 20 minutes.
Anyone not back to their car on time is on their own".
>Yes, more variety of drinks in the limo's.
I'm starting to think the limo tour should be BYOB.
Or at least have a hip flask attached to one's garter....
>I was extremely uncomfortable during the Limo tour when we
>made our stops. I am a private person and did not enjoy being
>stared at and made fun of. It seemed to me, that we were
>being put on display for the benefit of the tourists.
The Limo Tour is arguably the most public of the activities.
Limos always draw spectators (especially in Vegas) as people
want to see if some celebrity is getting out. No one can
police someone else's reaction to you. If you are going out
in public, you have to learn to grow some pretty thick skin.
I've learned over the years to let the snide and hateful
comments roll off my back.
My 2 cents,
mary beth
