This week we highlight Tuesday's Lake Mead Boat Cruise.

We will be taking a mid-day sightseeing cruise aboard the Desert
Princess, which is an authentic, three-level, Mississippi-style
paddlewheeler.

Daytime on Lake Mead gives passengers a chance to enjoy the full
beauty and majesty of the area. Plenty of sunshine and refreshing
breezes are yours to enjoy while you take in the breathtaking sights.

Photographers will love the colorful landscapes and panoramic
views. Just a few of the awesome landmarks include Fortification
Hill, a clearly-defined, extinct volcano, The Arizona Paint Pots,
a wonderland of color and of course, the magnificent Hoover Dam.

The Desert Princess is the pride of the Lake Mead Cruises fleet. She
is spaciously equipped with 2 climate-controlled enclosed decks and
an open promenade deck just perfect for taking in the cool, clean
air and the wondrous sights.

The cruise is narrated and is expected to take about 1 1/2 hours.
We'll be back in Las Vegas with plenty of time to get ready for
the Night Of The Soiled Doves activities in the evening.

We will meet at the boat loading area (exact location, including map,
in the Large Final Mailing) at 11:30am.

Regular price is US$22 per person, payable directly to the tour
operator. Various discounts are frequently available. Seeking these
will be an exercise for the student! :) (Hint: Look in the various
LV promotional magazines in your hotel room.)

But wait! There's more!

We'll also have a Boat Tour Breakfast at 10:00am at a TG-friendly
restaurant in the Boulder City area just prior to the tour. Details,
location, and map will appear in the Large Final Mailing.

Dress: Casual, boymode or girlmode. The cruise operator recommends
layered clothing, since the lake may be breezy and lake breezes can
be cool compared to the air temperature in Las Vegas.

>How big of a boat is this?

I just checked their web site (http://www.lakemeadcruises.com/)
and they don't say the exact size, at least it's not very obvious.

My guess is maybe 75' or so.

>Does it rock?

Hardly at all. Lake Mead is usually calm, and the cruise kind of
follows the shoreline from the marina around to Hoover Dam.

Here are some photos from one of our past trips:

And if you're nice to me, I'll tell you about the time we tried to
cross the middle into the waves in a 17' AeroGlas. I kept thinking
about that movie, The Perfect Storm, and hoping to hell that I could
get close to shore before we ended up in the Poseidon Adventure.

I guess we just got lucky. We had 4-5' waves and whitecaps
the day we went out.

Take some Dramamine 30 minutes before you go. It really does work.

No, it's a mainstream, general public activity.

However, no negative incidents have been reported on
this over several years. Just use common sense, don't
dress flamboyantly, keep your voice down, and don't
congregate in groups.

The "civilians" on the trip will be concentrating on
watching the scenery and not watching you.

The group has always been well-received. On the page
referred to in a previous message, you will see one of
our people posing with the Captain in the wheel house.
