Activity highlight - Welcome Celebration ...

This week we feature our Welcome Celebration.

One thing that's often requested in feedback are large
gatherings where it's possible to see and meet the majority
of the others who are attending.

This year we're having two of these, and one of them is our
Monday evening Welcome Celebration.

This will be a three-part affair.

1. Happy Hour. Come early, have a drink and a chat, see old
friends or make new friends. This is also "Business Hour",
where you can do such things as pay for various optional
activities and make late activity sign-ups and changes.

2. Dinner. This is optional. Details will be announced on the
activity sign-up screen and the Large Final Mailing.

3. Welcome Celebration. This is strictly social. Get to know the
others and anticipate the goings-on for the remainder of DLV
week.

Special attention will be paid toward hospitality to newcomers.
We'll have volunteer greeters to welcome you, help you get
checked in, and get you introduced to the others.

If you've never been out before, this will be one of your best
opportunities for a first time out during DLV week. This will
be held at a normally-mainstream bar and grill, but it will be
"closed for private party" for the duration of our activities.
It will be registered DLV attendees only, so you can be quite
assured that you will be among friends.

If you want, you can stay as long as you like after the
festivities, or you can go join some of the others for Rock
Star Karaoke (karaoke with a live band) at the House Of
Blues at Mandalay Bay.

Sign-up: Sign-up is requested for DINNER, so the facility
can plan for food service, seating, and staffing. If you're
going to do only the Happy Hour and/or Welcome Celebration
and not eating dinner, it's no-sign-up, just-show-up.

Dress: Although this will be held in what's normally a mainstream
venue, it will be open only to registered DLV attendees for the
duration of our activities that evening, so you do have some
leeway in what's appropriate. Anything from very casual to very
dressy, even formal if you wish, boymode or girlmode, will be
appropriate. About the only things inappropriate for the evening
would be costumes, slutty/fetish outfits, and clubwear that shows
too much skin. If you're planning on doing Rock Star Karaoke at
House Of Blues after, or any other mainstream activity, please
consider that as well when selecting your outfit.

Questions, please ask. :)

Uh-huh, they sure are. :)

Actually, only the dinner will need a sign-up. If
you're not gonna eat, it's a "no sign-up, just show
up" thing. This will all be very explicitly stated on
the activity sign-up screen.

> I'm assuming the happy hour check-in/first-timer
> welcome will be at the same as the dinner.

Check-in and newcomer greeters will be available all
through the evening.

Just a quick question about #3 of the three-part affair. The way it's
listed, it follows the dinner. Are all three parts at the same venue?

Seems like #1 and #3 are very important to attend and pick up additional
information. If all three parts are at the same restaurant it makes
sense to register for them all. I'm assuming the happy hour
check-in/first-timer welcome will be at the same as the dinner. Just
need to confirm.

It would make sense to have all three at the same place, but feel the
need to ask. As a first-timer, there's enough hesitation and anxiety to
begin with, so I'm just trying to make it easier on myself (perfect spot
for one of those smiley faces!).
