Nail tips

Hi:

So many of the girls were nice enough to compliment me on my nail tips this
year that I want to share with you how I make them.

The tips I use are Beyond Belief Pearl Elegance. They come in packages of
100, 10 each of ten different sizes, so there will be a size for each of your
fingers. Sally Beauty Supply has them for $5.99 for the package of 100.

I always make 3 sets of each color, since I'm always losing or breaking one.

Take the 15 nail tips and stick them to a taut piece of duct tape (ahh, duct
tape, the all-purpose cure-all!)

Paint the nails. Don't bother being precise, just slop the polish on
heavily, like you're painting the shed. Let them dry completely for at
least 24 hours. Slop on a second coat of polish, again the heavier the
better. Let them dry for at least another 24 hours. Finally, slop on a
coat of clear glossy top coat. Let them dry again for at least 24
hours.

Finally, when they have completely dried, lift them up off the duct
tape. Use an emery board to gently file off any overlapped polish that
has dried around the nail tip. Sally Beauty Supply also sells the
sticky tabs to hold them on if you don't like to use the hard-bonding
nail glue.

a good altnative to glue or sticky tabs is the stuff used to hold contact
mics on guitars. one of the brands in called gorilla snot.. a little ball
of the stuff on the back of the nails.. holds better then tabs and easier
off then glue. also if the pop off all you need to do is work the goop
around on the back of the nail a little and it goes right back on as
opposed to glue or tabs which hold less and less each time they are
applied. also you can put a coat of elmers white glue on your nail.. let
it dry then use regular nail glue over the top.. this holds well and
cleans up real easy.

Hi Big Sis,

Have you discovered an easy and/or quick way to trim the nails before
you glue them on. You know how they sell the set of nails bigger than
you need so that you can trim them to fit. I have always found that to
be the most challenging part of the fake nails application process.
BTW, thanks for the gorilla snot tip. Where does one get that stuff?

Being an avid adventurer of the HOME DEPOT, I wandered
into the GLUE isle and instantly my "blonde" mind
began to work. Yes,once in awhile my "CRS" disease
lays dormant and I begin to think of new ways to
enhance my over all feminine appearance.

I use "DUCO" brand contact cement, yes,the same glue
used to glue down your formica counter tops.
When your ready to do your nails, clean your own nails
with rubbing Alcohol. You'll be surprised the gunk
that comes off of them that otherwise would have
prevented them from sticking in the first place. Then
with a very very light coat of glue coat the inside of
the nail where it will make contact with your own.
Next coat your own nails with the glue in the same
manner. To expedite drying, use a hairdryer to dry
your own nails. For some reason this seems to make
them stick even better. Now simply attach the nails.
They are waterproof,,peel right of at the end of the
night and CAN BE RE-USED !!!! After 4-5 wearings, soak
the nails in Mineral Spirits for a day or so and the
glue will peel right off the nail, ( will not hurt
finish on nails )

Soak the nails in warm water with dish soap to clean
off the mineral spirits and let dry. They are all
ready for the next time you want to hit the mall! The
glue is also waterproof and can be worn for as long as
you like.

By the way there is no cure for CRS disease. (Can't
remember sh*t)
