Well, I'm probably the one you mean, since I have been mentioning
the topic frequently lately.
Bitching is not uncommon in the t* community. That's an observation
I've made over countless years, going back to the 1970's.
I have my theories on why this happens, but I seem to get into
trouble when I try to explain them.
>#1 Diva Las Vegas is the PREMIER TRANSGENDERED EVENT !! PERIOD ! (Good
>thing all the girls in the USA have not figured that out,,,,,yet !
I am not arguing with this at all.
We're not for everybody, however. I daresay that 90% of the t* community
is not ready for DLV. DLV is mighty scary to the hardcore groupies and
the regulars on the T-convention circuit, not to mention those stuck
in the closet at home.
>#2 DLV provides not only more events to be involved in, but also the
>most fun.
Again, no argument.
>#3 It makes those "TG" Conferences seem like a FEMA meeting in December.
The mainline T* conventions do serve their purpose. They allow exposure
to the community and guarded public contact. They are, however, very
repetitive and predictable.
>#5 The reason everyone wants to change the dates ? They know how much
>fun DLV is and they don't wanna miss it !!!!
>Now then, can you blame them ? It aint bitchin, we're desperate not to
>miss it !
There's actually very little bitching now about the fact that we're
considering changing the dates. Most all of the comments here and to
the organizers are in favor of some timeframe other than the one we
originally selected.
I'm getting a little flak about the fact that I'm sticking to my
guns on a few procedural things, but that's no biggie.
I think there have been some comments for and against some of the
proposed timeframes that have been interpreted by some to be bitching.
The bitching that I'm trying to prevent is (primarily) that which would
come from two sources:
1. The bitching that most certainly would come from those who would book
their hotels and find they are astronomical in price or sold out.
2. The bitching that would come from some potential attendees if they
didn't find out in a timely manner that we are considering rescheduling
or they felt they didn't have time to respond.
We owe it to our past and potential attendees to let them know that
there is a problem with the original dates, that we are considering
rescheduling, and to invite input and comments before we do anything.
That will minimize the bitching for items 1 and 2.
