I have no major complaints about the Sahara. The rooms have always
been clean, comfortable, quiet (usually) and very reasonable, even for
Las Vegas standards.

This was my 5th consecutive year using the Sahara for DLV.

The only bad experience I've had there was getting stuck in an elevator
last year, but they made a very appropriate adjustment to the bill for
that inconvenience.

I was unaware of that. From my perspective it was about the same. I ate
there several times, both for early breakfast with the gang and alone
for breakfast/lunch a couple of times. Service was always good for me
that I remember. It's not haute cuisine by any means, it's standard
coffee shop fare and it's always reasonable in price.

IMAO, the Sahara Buffet is not the best on the Strip, but it's there,
now, and cheap.

I believe the selection of fresh fruit and salads is much better than
other similarly-priced buffets.

Carving station is hit and miss. One breakfast they had great ham, but
it's a crap shoot. Other main dishes and sides seem to range from very
tasty to totally 144.

They do have the pizza/pasta bar off to the side. Not many of our people
seemed to find that one. :)

The desserts are yummy! (Hey, calories don't count in Las Vegas.)

I've had more fun since I got back with two Tony-isms ...

In that general area (north Strip), I consider the Hilton buffet to have
a better breakfast, but not as much variety. It's also more expensive. I
put the Riviera buffet in the same class as the Sahara, but smaller and
not as much selection.

IMAO, Stardust buffet is probably one of the best ones in that area.
It's not in the class with Aladdin, but a definite step up from Sahara.
The line often reflects it, though.

Circus**2 buffet should be avoided unless you like to eat very bad food
in the company of 1000 screaming kids spilling things and putting hot
fudge on meatloaf and such.

They tell me (the ubiquitous "they") that the breakfast buffet at the
Westward Ho (Westward Hole) has improved.

Only way to find out is to try another. My hunch is that since the
Sahara is where a number of our people stay, it's as good a choice as
any, and that if it were moved to a hotel where we didn't have a group
staying, the turnout would be low.

I know I only ate the LWG once or twice this time, but I was glad to see
the function on and there if I wanted to join.

That is true. However, the Sahara is so large that most of our people
just get lost in the crowd, unless they are "screaming tranny" or
hanging out in groups.

Now if they would only lose those obnoxious timeshare droids, although
the do seem to leave unaccompanied women alone for the most part.
