Dates for Diva Las Vegas 2016 ...

The Diva Las Vegas Organizers Group (DLVORG) has voted to hold DLV 2016
from Monday March 28 thru Saturday, April 2, 2016.

Our customary one-month Call For Comments on the proposed dates is now
open, and will close on or about October 24.

Comments on the proposed dates are encouraged and may be made on line
via the Diva Las Vegas Discussion Forum here:

If you wish to comment to the DLV organizers in private, you may e-mail
your comments or concerns to: dlv@geekbabe.com

A notice will be sent out as a general mailing when the dates are to be
considered final.

Please do not make any non-refundable arrangements for such things as
travel and lodging until the DLV 2016 dates are announced as final.

Diva Las Vegas 2016 will be our 20th. annual event! A celebration is in
order! Stay tuned for details.

Just thinking that the Sunday the 27th is Easter Sunday, I wonder if this would be an issue for anyone travelling due to family commitments etc? That may be a difficult week for some?

We've started DLV on the Monday after Easter with few issues and no complaints that I can remember. The last time this happened we had a very good turnout for a Sunday evening Pre-DLV gathering.

The only real comments I remember were along the line of a lack of an Easter Parade in Las Vegas.

Yes, Easter a problem for those travelling from Aust as airline prices
ex Aust are are inflated.. and maybe hotel prices in LV too...?

When we did our due diligence prior to proposing the dates, we checked hotel rates in some depth. The selected week is one of the least expensive weeks in the spring of 2016 as far as LV hotel rates are concerned.

We also spot checked a few common domestic routes to Las Vegas for air fare and found them to be no more outrageous than they usually are. Las Vegas is not a big destination for Easter.

Unfortunately international air fares may be a different thing, and I admit we did not do any spot checking.

I think this is a bad time to start being so close to Easter. Some may
have family commitments and also some like me have a very hard time
getting time off work during a Holiday. Not sure I can make these dates.

My family always gets together on Easter at my house and next year won't
be the exception. I'll be able to attend DLV, but I'll just be getting
in later on Monday. Fortunately it's only about a 6 or 7 hour drive for
me. I can see the desire for the next week as it does add Sunday to the
mix, a day usually without the weekend room rate bump.

Choosing a date that is good for everyone is very difficult and close to
impossible, and no easy selection even after due diligence, but a date
has to be chosen.

Book reservations early if this date is set - for LV is always having
meetings and conventions going on someplace.

Be aware during those dates:

Thu 4/1 - Sat 4/3 the ending days of proposed DLV, expected 30,000 in LV
just for one convention - the Nat Automobile Dealers Association Annual
Winter National Convention 2016

From the 26th or 28th and through the week, other smaller conventions
that will est combined total of 24,800 more expected some time spread
out during that week LV should easily handle the numbers as far as
rooms, and prices were hopefully reviewed too.

Add the numerous colleges that will have their spring break going on the
weekend before and weekend after and during that week too, where LV is
also a popular destination for them.

Also usual weekend visitors from surrounding states - but that only
affects fridays and saturdays.
