Center on Halsted in partnership with Howard Brown Helath Center's
Broadway Youth Center is proud to present an observation an observance
of the 2010 Transgender Day of Remembrance, on Thursday, November 18,
2010.

The observance will take place at Center on Halsted 3656 N. Halsted
Street beginning at 6:30pm with a casual reception featuring light
refreshments.

At 7:00pm, join us for a reading of the names, of those of whom we know,
who have lost their lives in the past year due to their being their true
selves.

Rev. Carl of the Pillar of Faith Church will recite a prayer after the
names are read.

Vernita Gray of Cook County State's Attorney's office will then speak
about the history of the trans community and LGBT civil rights in
Chicago, violence that's perpetuated against trans individuals and
current hate crimes that are currently being prosecuted by the
State's Attorney's office.

Broadway Youth Center will then present "Night of Fallen Stars"

A performance arts tribute to celebrate the lives of those who we have
lost.

Representatives from a wide variety of local organizations who support
and service the broad transgender community will have representatives
and information available.

Among those representatives will be (list in formation):
American Veterans for Equal Rights
Bisexual Queer Alliance Chicago
Broadway Youth Center
Center on Halsted
Chicago Chapter
Chicago Gender Society
Chicago Women's Health Center
Gender Queer Chicago
GenderWork
Howard Brown Health Center
Illinois Gender Advocates
Island Girls
Journey
PFLAG
Transinside

Looking forward to seeing you there,

June
