britney! i know we've never met, but i was reading my e-mails and,
because of some connection i must have made with pink fest, i got to
read your message. i thought, 'too true!' chicago in the fall could
truly be 'cute boot' weather. i have images of coeds with plaid skirts
and blocky heeled boots, of city gals with sleek pairs of fine leather,
stylish and expensive, and of working girls with short heels, braving a
cool fall rain and dying to get home from work to kick off their shoes
and knead their aching toes through their pair of pantyhose. something
sweet there is about looking nice on michigan avenue, or window-shopping
with your beau down oak street, you feel thrilled, so free and slightly
naughty when a brisk lake wind sweeps up your skirt and embraces your
legs.the proper raincoat, 'parapluie,' scarf and perhaps a cute rain hat
finish the ensemble. just another moment to be so glad you're a gal! (a
quick reference: elina labourdette in 'les dames de bois de boulogne,'
(robert bresson) in which she's darting around protesting her love in
just such an ensemble, with seamed stockings and low pumps. talk about
cute!)
