What are you looking forward to the most at DLV?

Alright gals, let's get some dialog going here as this board has been way too quiet. This outstanding event is 20 days away so your excitement should really be building.
There are so many outstanding activities taking place that it might be hard to narrow this down to one or two, but let's try. Tell me what you are really looking forward to during your trip to Las Vegas.
Of course there is the opportunity to meet new friends and see my friends again that I met before, but what I am really looking forward to are those activities that allow me to be outside and enjoying the warm weather. I'm from Iowa and it MIGHT get up to 50 here today. The idea of being out in 70+ temperatures really excites me, so the golf outing and the trip to Shiloh Horse Rescue Ranch are high on my list. I could go on telling why I am looking forward to everything else I have planned but will stop with those two.

Okay, I'll play ...

Just meeting new friends and catching up with old friends is high on the list. However, it looks like you want more along the line of activities that we'll be doing, so I'll name a few I'm particularly looking forward to ...

One of those I'm looking forward to is the Welcome Celebration on Monday. Over 90% of the returnees and most of the newcomers who will be in town on Monday are signed up for the dinner portion so I know this will be a great one! It will be >>THE<< place to meet the others!

On Tuesday I had a hard decision to make. I want to do both the Shiloh Ranch thing and the Neon Boneyard thing, but I know if I tried to do both I would end up coming back either too late or too tired from the Shiloh thing to take in the Neon thing. The Neon Boneyard is more of a direct interest of mine, but I know I'll do that on my own and soon, so I'm going for Rosada's Shiloh thing even though I'm not the "outdoorsy" type at all. I figure I'll probably never get up there if I don't do it now. Besides, I do miss the side trips that we used to do in the earlier days of DLV.

I'm also very much looking forward to the Erotic Heritage Museum on Tuesday. No particular reason, just because.

Although it may not be terribly "exciting" to some, I'm looking forward to totally pigging out at Milano's on Wednesday and then crawling from bar to bar. We'll be hitting mainly the ones we haven't done in the past and I'll be trying to avoid consuming Galiano [sic] which may be a challenge.

The Limo Tour is one of my faves! Although I haven't really "dressed" for it in so many years, I still love it. I've also grown fond of the Pre-Limo thing at Trevi. Good food and good companionship.

I've also grown fond of the Charles Bar, even though the drinks require you to increase the Visa Card limit.

I'm definitely looking forward to the Bahama Breeze again. The last two have been super and I'm certain this one will be as well.

One other thing I'm definitely gonna be doing, although on my own, is one last trip to the Sahara. I hope it's not too badly shut down a month out from closure. I ended up playing there a few times last year and noticed that it had definitely gone downhill from 2009. I do want to take it in one last time, regardless of the condition.

I'll try to keep my list of what I'm anticipating reasonably short.
Old friends; getting some time out in the big world away from my various safe local closets; I've talked a couple of local girlfriends to join us and I'm looking forward to their reaction; of course everything I've signed up for; sharing the activities I've set up with others (and hoping they work out wonderfully); sitting lady-like on a bar stool sipping a refreshing adult beverage; seeing the faces and reactions of the crowds when we stop during the limo tour; talking with one stranger who is brave enough to chat; hitting that really big jackpot while wearing my favorite lucky skirt; complimenting the others I see on their incredible fashion sense; shopping; meeting face to face with people I've only encountered on-line.
I haven't been thinking too much about DLV, have I?

What am I looking forward to the most at DLV?

Gosh, where do I begin. First of all this will be my, I want to my
10th maybe 11th DLV, but I'm not sure. I stopped counting long ago.

No need to. I just want to say that no two have been alike, that's
for sure. And I think that is what I'm looking forward to this DLV.
New friends, old friends, new adventures, new experiences. DLV gives
me the opportunity ton let the "woman" in me to come out, play, and
have fun with friends, since the opportunity to do that at home is
very limited.

And when I do get to dress up at home, it mostly for my Mobile DJ
activities, volunteer work, or performing at local drag shows. Over
the years I've witnessed the steady improvement of my altar ego,
Rosada Delano Profundo. She has learned a lot from her experience at
all the DLV's she's attended. And that's another thing I look forward
to. We are never too old to learn new things, whether it be about
ourselves or others.

As a drag queen, you have to develop a tough exterior so I'm open
to any constructive criticism you toss at me. My first DLV was a
trial by fire. Gawd, it was frightening!!! I had purchased this
makeup kit over the internet and, at the time it seemed just fine.

But when my Big Sister Mindy saw it, she laughed and laughed because
it was a makeup kit for younger women, teenagers no doubt! I will
miss you this year, Big Sister Mindy. Hope you are doing well.
Anyway, I will be eternally grateful to her assistance in transforming
Rosada into the woman she is today.

So, after she stopped laughing at my ridiculous make-up kit for
teenie boppers, she said something like, "Girl, we're taking you
to J.C. Penney and have someone professional teach you how to put
on real women's make-up!" And after that, Rosada got the boost she
needed and her confidence level shot up sky high! And it's remained
high ever since.

Last year I hosted one event, the Tony Curtis book signing event.

That event led to an idea that became this year's Shiloh Horse
Rescue Ranch Day Trip called "Some Like it Hot" in honor of Tony
Curtis, and Jack Lemmon, his co-star in the movie by the same name.
If you recall, in the movie they impersonate two women who join an
all-girls jazz band in order to elude a group gangsters, who are
out to get them for witnessing the Chicago St. Valentine's Day
Massacre.

After I contacted Jill Curtis, Tony's widow, earlier this year and
told her about us having an interest in visiting her rescue operation,
she said she would be glad to have us visit. Soon after that, I
thought to myself as to what else can I get involved with. Before
long I was volunteering to host the Mexican Dinner and the
Significant Other Brunch.

Lastly, for this year I am looking forward to enjoying with my
fellow DLV girlfriends the best DLV so far.....

In my case it's what do I feel I will be missing....

I hate missing DLV.

I love spending whatever time I can living the carefree life of Gina, I
love messing with the "ordinary" people and to take the opportunity to
provide some education at the same time.

I'm going to miss a lot of my favorite people in the whole world, people
that I think about all year and look forward to seeing even if just for
a few minutes every year.

I'm going to miss Charles, I'm going to miss shooting in Gina mode, the
two events I tend to hostess every year. I'm even going to try and make
it to LV just to see Charles this year, because we tend to solve all of
the problems of the world in the 2-3 hours I get to be with him every
year.

It is really hard for me to escape to DLV, my wife plain and simply
doesn't approve. I've only missed one other DLV since I started going,
(over ten years) and that was because my son (and the Army) choose that
week for him to return home from deployment. I don't think I've ever
been able to make the whole week, but every minute there is a special
one.

I've made lifelong friends and I feel so absolutely wonderful in their
presence.

Bottom line, this year will have a big hole in it because of something
silly like a work schedule.

Have fun all, and think about how lucky you are to be going.

This will be my 10th DLV. To me its become a reunion of friends who
understand.

It's also wonderful to have so many things to do for a whole week, or
not to do, and sometimes just enjoy doing nothing in particular.

My SO and I especially like going to shows, but we have seen most of the
big ones. For the past several years the new interesting choices seem to
have been getting fewer. However, every year we find surprises that have
been special, but somehow didn't get wide critical acclaim or notice.
Last year it was Human Nature at the IP (which is still playing). In the
past it has been Avenue Q, maybe the best play I've ever seen, at the
Wynn, and The Kimsey Sicks, "I Wanna be a Republican" at the Hilton,
which was hilarious, among others.

I always look forward to the big gatherings like the opening and closing
gatherings where we can all catch up with each other. The limo ride is
always fun and we usually pay the driver to extend our trip to some
obscure late night tacco or bar-b-que dive which can be an event in
itself.

Every year I have to skip some places I'd like to see and experience,
like the Erotic Heritage Museum this year, because my SO doesn't find
them interesting.

Other times she enforces cooth control on me, but that's a limiting
factor of life, like not being able to wear over-the-top high heels and
short skirts at my age! Sometimes I win, but I've lost so much I can
take it and fashion-wise she's usually right. However, I'm willing to
give up a few things I want to do, and do the things she likes, that are
generally off the schedule, because life is so much easier the other 51
weeks of the year. This year I am going to try to get her to participate
in, and enjoy the bar crawl, something we have not done before.

We stay on the quite North end of the strip and often catch the monrail
at the Sahara. The first few times I came to DLV I stayed at the Sahara
and will miss it although they finally ran me off with horrible room
temperature control, closing the late night coffee shop that once had
one of the best veggie burgers anywhere, and increasing indifferent
service in the buffet and elsewhere. Still I want to drop in and
experience what remains of the ambiance of old Las Vegas one more time.

I understand the wife problem, but I've been telling you to bring her
with you!

The wife of one of our mutual friends who will go unnamed, but missed
this year too, convinced her to go and it's saved me lots of money
since. My first trip cost me a huge projection TV, video recorder and
other related items and that was when they were expensive. The second
DLV cost me a new car. Having her come to DLV with me, even with the
daily shopping, is a bargain!

Of course I understand getting your wife to go could be problematic too!
However, let me know and I'll try to get mine to call her up!

I am a first timer. So what am I looking forward to the most? Everything! Really, it is hard to decide. I have my wonderful wife going, so we can enjoy some time together. I have at least two good friends from my area going. There are a number of on-line friends that I am anxious to meet. Then I am sure that I will make many other friends that I haven't even chatted with before. Events? We have events???

The very first DLV, back in 1997, was an in-real-life meeting of those who had become acquainted over the Internet. Most of our people in the early years were Internet friends getting together in real life.
