DLV 2012 photo preview staging:

Everyone who attended DLV 2012 should have received their link to
the DLV 2012 photo staging area.

If you attended and have not received this, please write in (just
reply to this mailing) and explain the circumstances. We'll get
your link to you.

Please check the photo staging area frequently, as photos will be
coming in and will be added multiple times over the next month or
so.

Big thanks to all who have submitted photos of this year's event!

Surveys close May 31:

If you either ATTENDED or DID NOT attend DLV, and have not yet
taken our follow-up surveys, please do so as soon as you can, as
we'll be shutting these down and tabulating the results on May 31.

If you DID ATTEND, you can take the Attendee Survey by clicking
here:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/2012survey.html

This year we're also asking those who DID NOT attend to please take
our very brief Non-Attendee Survey, on line here:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/2012nasur.html
. . . . . . . . . .

Both surveys will give us considerable valuable information for
summarizing this year's event and for planning events to come.

To make it easier for you and to speed things along, if you did
not participate in any particular activity, or if any particular
question does not apply to you, you may leave the corresponding
answer blank and skip to the next.

Please take the surveys only once, with one major exception:

If you ever want to add any additional comments, please bring up
the appropriate survey again, go directly to the final free-form
text boxes, and submit another entry without checking any of the
buttons or checkboxes in the main part of the survey. You may do
this as many times as you like.

Comments, both positive and negative, are encouraged.

If you wish to comment further, or you wish to comment in the first
person in your name, please do so in the DLV Discussion Forum on
line at:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/mydlv/mainforum/viewforum.php?f=2

If you wish to comment in private, please send your comments, both
positive and negative, to: dlv@geekbabe.com

Thanks to all for giving us very valuable feedback!

Final headcount numbers:

After all of the sign-in sheets were reconciled, "missing in
action" reports received, stragglers accounted for, and errors
corrected, our provisional final DLV 2012 headcount is:

On-roster primary attendees: 124
On-roster SOs: 25
Off-roster SOs: 1
Late registrants: 1
Approved walk-ins: 1
Approved guests: 2

Total present at DLV 2012: 154.

Yes, this is a decrease of about 8% from our turnout in 2011. This
diminished turnout was indicated to us in the form of a much higher
than usual number of cancellations in the two weeks leading up to
the event.

As everybody knows, this year we're surveying the non-attendees as
well, in particular to get a handle on the reasons why some did
not attend this year. We do hope that there's nothing significantly
wrong on our part, but if there is, we need to know about it so we
can do something about it.

Those who did not attend, particularly those who registered but did
not participate, can help out with this by being sure to take the
Non-Attendee Survey at the link above.

Call For Volunteers continues:

Diva Las Vegas runs entirely on volunteer help!

All of those great times you just had were made possible because
somebody stepped forward and made those activities happen!

During DLV, a number of you asked if there was anything you could do
to help out.

Yes, there is, and now is the time to say so! :)

Planning and organization of DLV is done mostly on line via e-mail.
It's interactive and participatory. Volunteers form what we call the
DLVORG group.

The DLVORG group is not at all closed or exclusive. It's open to
anybody who expresses interest in helping out with DLV.

DLVORG people participate at the decision-making level, the
organizing and planning level, and at the nuts-and-bolts level.

All of the activities were "adopted" by one or more of our
volunteers, who took the necessary steps to make them happen.

If you want to do your part to make a great thing even better, to
give back what DLV has given to you, and help to run an event that
has literally changed lives, please step forward!

To volunteer, please do one of the following:

Visit the URL:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlvvol1.html

Fill out the screen and check a few things, click SUBMIT, and
you're on your way!

Alternatively, simply send a brief e-mail message to
dlvorg@geekbabe.com and state you wish to volunteer. (Or, just
reply to this mailing and state that you wish to volunteer.)

Please include a sentence or two stating how you are most
interested in helping out. Anything general or specific ("I
wanna plan a sky-diving party.", or "I'll help any way I can.")
is perfectly fine. Anything from one sentence to a book length
manuscript will be ok. :)

We're not asking for any kind of a major time or effort
commitment on your part. All we ask is that each volunteer
organize, or assist with one activity. That's it.

If you're a bit shy, that's fine. We'll find something for you
where you don't have to go cold-calling vendors or anything
like that.

And yes, out-of-the-box thinking is encouraged! As you know, we're
not limited to the things that traditionally happen at TG events,
and we're certainly not limited to those which have already happened
at DLV.

Thanks in advance to all who have volunteered to help out with DLV!

Please rate our vendors:

Thanks to all who have added ratings and comments to our Big List.

If you have not done so, please rate (and comment upon) those who
served us during the recent event.

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/vendors/

The Big List has now become our most "hit-on" page! It's very well
indexed by all of the major search engines.

Do you see something missing? Just follow the link to add a new
vendor or e-mail us and we'll do the busy work for you and get it
added.

It's very easy to do, just a few simple mouse clicks.
