Getting close:

Just 2 weeks 2 go, gang.

There are a lot of very important items in this mailing, please
look this over carefully.
. . . . .

Attention hotmail.com and msn.com users: See important notices
below.
. . . . .

Welcome to those who just registered or joined the list.

Yes, there's still time to get in on things, but this is very
close to last call. See the detailed item below on exactly what
you will need to do if you want to attend.

One very important note. DLV 2007 general registration closes
Thursday April 19.

There will be a moratorium for all activity sign-ups, cancellations,
and changes starting April 19. This means that all activity changes
after April 19 will have to be made in person at DLV.

Last-minute walk-in registration may or may not be available this
year, depending on anticipated turnout. If walk-in registration is
offered, it will require that we first contact you by voice
telephone to discuss your DLV participation.
. . . . .

We still have a few people whose validations have not been received.
Time is getting short. Please get those in so you can get signed
up for activities.
. . . . .

ATTENTION hotmail.com AND msn.com E-MAIL USERS:

We've received quite a few reports of activity sign-up e-mails
not being delivered. Some have reported finding them in their
spam/junk/bulk folders, but others have reported searching
these and not finding them anywhere.

If you use either hotmail.com or msn.com, please pay particular
attention to the items you are supposed to receive and let us
know promptly if you do not receive them.

Another thing you can do to help is that if you find one of our
mailings in one of your junk mail folders, please report it and
get it marked as "not spam" so you and others don't have these
problems in the days to come.

We've also received sporadic reports of people having difficulty
sending to dlv from Hotmail accounts. We have been unable to
duplicate this problem in controlled testing. If mail to DLV
should bounce, you may send to annie@annie.net and it will be
forwarded.
. . . . .

Activity sign-up is now in progress.

Most of you who hold validated registrations for DLV 2007 should
have received their activity sign-up mailings. The only exceptions
are for those who registered after Thursday night, and for those who
have yet to validate their registrations. The next batch will be sent
out on Monday morning.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE THE ACTICITY SIGN-UP
MAILING, SOMETHING IS WRONG AND WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT. If you
don't receive it (those who registered or validated since Thursday
should get this on Monday) please write in (dlv@geekbabe.com) and
explain the circumstances.

Also, if you have any difficulty signing up for activities, either
technical problems or just if you don't understand something,
please let us know as soon as possible.
. . .

A few notes about activity sign-up:

1. Activities not listed on the screen are no sign-up, just
show up.

2. If you fill out your activity sign-up screen for a second or
subsequent time, you need to specify all activities you wish to
do even though you may have already signed up for them before.

3. If you register as a couple, you don't need to do two
registrations, just one with both names. You may sign up for
the same or different activities if you wish.
. . . . .

Latest numbers: From now on, the numbers we will report are those
who have reconfirmed by making their activity selections.

As of Saturday morning we have 127 reconfirmed, with several
activity sign-ups yet to go. This puts us right on target for
a final headcount somewhere between 120 and 150.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Suede update:

Monday evening's dinner at Suede will be a buffet. Cost will be
$20 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Alcoholic beverages will
be paid by the drink at the bar.

Sign-up is requested, not required for Monday dinner at Suede.
First priority on seating will be given to those who sign up in
advance.

Sign-up is requested for dinner only. You don't need to sign up
if you will be attending Happy Hour and/or the Welcome Celebration
but not eating dinner with the group.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Do us a favor, please:

Can we tawk?

Each year, unfortunately, we get several no-shows. This is very
frustrating for us, particularly as DLV grows, since it makes
it very difficult to make definite plans.

It's a real no-winner for us. If we guess on the high side for
some activity, we have a show promoter yelling at us because we
said they would sell 50 tickets and they only sold 30 (as actually
happened last year). If we guess on the low side, we can positively
overwhelm the wait staff, as we did at Milano's one year, when we
told them to expect about 20 and close to 40 showed up!

It's now two weeks away from the big event, and most of you do
indeed know whether you will actually be showing up or not.

If you definitely know you aren't going to make it, please
do us a favor and give us the courtesy of a cancellation.

All you have to do is reply to this message with one word,
"cancel" and we will take care of looking up your registration
and doing the busy work. You don't have to say anything, you
don't have to explain why you are canceling.

If you change your mind and decide to come anyway, it's very
easy to un-cancel, just one mouse click or one e-mail!

We really hate to see anybody cancel, but if you know that you
are not going to show up, please help us out and let us know
that you're not coming.

This year this is particularly important, since we will be
near capacity or at capacity next week. If you are not going
to make it and do not cancel, somebody else may not get to
go.

This gets you off the books, helps us keep our numbers more
accurate, and most important, it lets those on waiting lists
move up and lets them firm up their plans.

Now if you're a "fence sitter", maybe one who signed up but
you're unsure, uneasy, apprehensive or just plain scared,
let us know. We'll do all we can to answer any concerns and
put you at ease. If you need some one-on-one assurance,
we'll get you in touch with one of our Big Sisters. We'll
do what we can to push you over to the DLV side of the fence.

Your cooperation is appreciated. :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
What you need to do:

Here's a summary of what you need to do, based on where you stand
in the registration process. If you have any questions, or if
something does not seem right, e-mail us at dlv@geekbabe.com and
let us know what is going on or is not going on.

The important thing is, if you need to do something, you need
to do it >>NOW<<. Time is getting very tight.
. . . . .

IF YOU HAVE NOT REGISTERED YET:

If you want to attend DLV 2007 but you have not registered, the
first thing you need to do is register. Please register on line at:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/register.html

If you have any difficulty registering, if you don't understand
something, or if you get error messages or something unexpected,
send a brief e-mail to dlv@geekbabe.com and explain what is not
working. We will do things manually if necessary.

DLV 2007 registration closes April 19.
. . . . .

IF YOU REGISTERED ON LINE BUT HAVE RECEIVED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING:

Something is wrong. You need to contact us. Please send a brief
e-mail to dlv@geekbabe.com and we will assist you.
. . . . .

IF YOU REGISTERED BEFORE LAST FRIDAY AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED YOUR
ACTIVITIES SIGN-UP MAILING:

Again, something is wrong. Most likely this is an outstanding
validation. If you have already sent in your validation e-mail,
send us a note (e-mail dlv@geekbabe.com) and we will look into
things.

See special note above for hotmail.com and msn.com users.

Those who registered after Friday morning should receive their
activities sign-up mailings this coming Monday.
. . . . .

IF YOU TRIED TO SIGN UP FOR ACTIVITIES BUT SOMETHING DIDN'T
WORK RIGHT OR YOU DIDN'T UNDERSTAND SOMETHING.

Please contact us. We'll help you with the process, doing it
manually if necessary. E-mail dlv@geekbabe.com for assistance.
. . . . .

IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR ACTIVITIES SIGN-UP MAILING BUT YOU
HAVE NOT MADE YOUR ACTIVITY SELECTIONS:

You will need to do this at your first opportunity. This is not
optional, even if you do not wish to do any of the listed activities.

This also reconfirms your intent to attend, so it is necessary
to do it if you wish to join us.
. . . . .

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, CONCERNS, MISUNDERSTANDINGS, OR ARE
NOT CLEAR ABOUT ANYTHING.

Contact us. Send e-mail to dlv@geekbabe.com and we will assist you.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Activity and sign-up status:

The good news is that most of the activities still have at least
some room.

As to those which are full or approaching full, here's where things
now stand:

Night Of The Soiled Doves is full. If you want to go, get on the
waiting list. There will always be cancellations and no-shows.
. . . . .

Prime Rib Loft option for Eating Out Night is full. Again, get
on the waiting list if you want to do this. If space is not
avilable, there are other EON options that do not require a
sign-up.
. . . . .

Limo Tour is "officially" full, but we do have some wiggle room so
to speak. We've tentatively added a ninth limo and if we can fill
that, some on the waiting list will move up to confirmed. Again,
if you want to go, sign up and get on the waiting list. Last year
several people were on the waiting list for the Limo Tour, and
we had only one person who did not get to go.
. . . . .

The Friday Bahama Breeze dinner is full, and it looks like there
will be a significant waiting list. If seats are available at
7:00pm, you will be able to eat with us. Due to complaints about
this last year, we will be insisting that waiting list and walk-in
people wait until 7:00 to claim a seat for dinner.

There may also be seating available in other parts of the
restaurant, but we won't know this until Friday the 27th.

You can still come to the Happy Hour and Celebrations even if
you are not confirmed for dinner.
. . . . .

The important thing if you want to do any of these "sold out"
activities is to GET ON THE WAITING LIST! Due to cancellations
and people changing their mind, there's really a good chance that
when you get your selections in the Large Final Mailing, you
will have moved up out of the waiting list.

Even if you still show waiting list in the Large Final Mailing,
there will always be late cancellations and no-shows, and there
will be explicit "waiting list instructions" for each activity
as to what to do and who to see for your particular activity.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Things to come:

Large Final Mailing:

On or about Thursday, April 19 we will send out what we call our
Large Final Mailing to everybody who has registered and has
completed the activity sign-up process.

If you will be leaving home prior to April 19 and won't have access
to e-mail, please request an advance copy of this. You may request
a copy of this anytime from this day forward. The only caveat is
that if you get one in advance, last minute changes and announcements
may not appear on it.

Even if you just want to get a jump on things, you can request an
advance copy of the LFM.

One thing to remember about the Large Final Mailing, it will only
go out to those who hold validated registrations. It will not be
archived on line.
. . . . .

At DLV we strictly limit the number of dead trees that we hand you
when you check in. Most of the information that you'll need will be
coming to you in the Large Final Mailing.

The Large Final Mailing will include:

* Your personalized final activity selections and itinerary.
* Final detailed schedule of DLV activities.
* Very detailed directions to DLV activity locations.
* Link to a map of DLV activity locations.
* Dress notes and dress suggestions for each major activity.
* Contact phone numbers and Big Sister Emergency Hotline number.
* Photography information.
* Various vendor/merchant discounts and promotions.

Also included are various hints and notes such as check-in
instructions, how to find the group at our locations, what to
do if you have trouble finding the group, etc.

You should read this material carefully and print out what you think
you will need. WE WILL NOT BE HANDING OUT ANY PRINTED MAPS, SCHEDULES,
DIRECTIONS, ETC!

Hint: Print out the LFM and read it on the plane! :)
. . . . .

Checking in:

Unlike other events, there is no big central check-in desk at DLV.

Check-in is quick and informal, and may be done at any of the major
DLV activities and many of the smaller ones. Look for activities
marked "Check-in Available" on the final detailed schedule. Don't
worry, if the first thing you want to do doesn't offer check in,
you can still do it. You might have to wait to get your name tag
and such.

Yes, this year we promise that if an activity is marked "Check-in
available", there will indeed be a check-in host or hostess there
and ready to check you in.

When you get to your first activity, just look for or ask for the
DLV volunteer who is taking names. He or she will check you in, give
you your name tag, ask if you have any questions, and a few other
items.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Early Birds:

For those arriving early, we'll be holding a very informal happy
hour, with an optional dinner, at the Greek Isles Hotel and Casino
starting at 6:00pm on Sunday evening, April 22.

This will not appear on the schedule.

Greek Isles is on Convention Center Drive at the corner of Debbie
Reynolds Drive. This is about two blocks straight west of the Las
Vegas Convention Center and about four blocks east of the old
Stardust property. The location will appear on the map sent in
the Large Final Mailing.

Greek Isles has been recently checked out by some of the local
ladies and they have reported excellent service and an excellent
attitude.

Yes, this is a good activity for beginners!

Very informal, no sign-up, just show up. Boymode or girlmode,
casual to moderately dressy.

Although this is not an official DLV activity, we're asking all
to please help set a good example of the TG community. Please
dress and act appropriately for a mainstream general-public venue,
and if you choose to use public restrooms, please use them
discreetly, appropriately, and one at a time, never in groups.
. . . . .

Another early-bird activity will be services at Metropolitan
Community Church on Sunday. This will be marked on the map, and
directions will be included in the Large Final Mailing. Those of
all faiths and belief systems are welcome. This is an excellent
beginner activity.
