Happy Easter, Happy Passover. This mailing is going out a
bit later than planned due to some time-sensitive details.

Title says it all! We're heading down the stretch toward DLV!

Yes, there is still time to get in on DLV 2010! See instructions
below if you have not registered and want to participate.

Important announcements:

Golfers: Please see update below and note the deadline for
payment or payment arrangements. This supsercedes a previously
announced date.

We've received a report that Travelworm is in bankrupcy and
in some cases, payments have not been made from the agency
to various Las Vegas hotels, leaving guests without any
accommodations. We recommend that you do not use them for
your last-minute hotel bookings. If you already made your
arrangements through Travelworm, we suggest that you check
with your hotel directly to be sure your reservation has
been properly recorded and paid for.

It's estimated that about 85% of the activity sign-ups are in,
and the numbers still appear to be converging upon a 180-some
figure for a final total turnout for DLV.

Thanks to all for a prompt response to the activity sign-up
this year. The activity sign-up has been very smooth so far.

One important note, which is more and more important the
closer we get to DLV is that if any time you're expecting
something, such as a sign-up mailing, a response from one
of our volunteers, etc., and it doesn't happen, let us
know, the sooner the better. We are fast approaching our
"crunch time" so the sooner we know about an issue, the
more effectively we can deal with it.

We hate to see anyone miss DLV, but if you're registered and
you know that you are not going to make it, please cancel. You
can do this either from the registration screen or via e-mail.
This gets you off the rolls and in many cases lets others move
up on waiting lists.

Besides, it gets rid of all of those e-mail nag-o-grams. :)

If you have not registered for DLV 2010 yet:

The first thing you need to do is register. Register here:

Shortly after you register you will receive a validation
e-mail. Please read this carefully and do what it says
to do. This will validate your registration.

After your registration has been validated, you will receive
your activity sign-up mailing within the next few days.

You must be registered and validated before April 14 to fully
participate in DLV.

If you have filled out the registration screen but have
received absolutely nothing in e-mail:

SOMETHING IS WRONG! WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT, NOW!

Please e-mail us (dlv@geekbabe.com) and explain the
circumstances.

If you have filled out the registration screen but not
responded to your validation e-mail:

You need to read it (yes, read it carefully, it tells you
exactly what you need to do) and do what it asks you to
do.

If you responded to your validation e-mail but have not
received anything back:

Again, SOMETHING IS WRONG. WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT! NOW!

When you respond to your validation e-mail you should get
either one of these in return:

1. An automated note that your registration is validated.

2. A semi-nice personal note telling you to go back and
REALLY read the validation e-mail and respond as it asks
you to do.

If you didn't get one of these, let us know, and we will
take things from there and get them on the right track.

If you have registered (by about 1:00am CDT Saturday morning)
but have not received your activity selection e-mail:

SOMETHING IS WRONG! WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT! We need to
check things and see what is going on. Sooner the better!

E-mail us, explain what's going on.

If you have registered but not made your activity selections:

Please make your activity selections as soon as possible. If
you have any questions about this, or if things don't work
for you as they should, please write in and explain what is
going on. THE SOONER THE BETTER!

Activity sign-up also reconfirms your intent to attend DLV.

If you don't wish to sign up for any optional activities,
either submit a blank activity sign-up screen or write a
brief "reconfirming" e-mail to dlv@geekbabe.com explaining
that you will indeed be attending.

If you have difficulty with the activity sign-up screens,
let us know and we will do it for you manually if necessary.

If you've registered but don't want to do any of the optional
activities:

Either submit a blank activity sign-up screen as stated above
or send a brief note to dlv@geekbabe.com saying that you are
still attending but you will not be signing up for any of the
optional activities.

If you have made your activity selections:

You're all set! Pack your bags and get ready! If you want
to change any of your activity selections, in most cases
you can do this up until April 14.

It's easy to un-cancel. If you canceled on the web, you
can easily reverse the process yourself. If you had either
a validation or sign-up lapse, write in and explain the
circumstances and we'll get things back on track for you.

We're now entering "crunch time", where things happen fast
and heavy as we move down the final path to DLV 2010. We
realize that some of you still may have general or specific
questions regarding the event.

Here are our suggestions for the most timely answers to your
questions:

1. Check to see if your question is already covered in our
Frequently Asked Questions list on the web at:

The vast majority of the questions we receive in e-mail are
already answered in the FAQ list.

2. Ask your questions on the Diva Las Vegas Discussion Forum,
on the web at:

If you ask questions in public this way, you'll be bound to
receive answers far more quickly than if you submit them
via e-mail to the main DLV address.

If there's something of particular concern, maybe something
you're not comfortable asking in public, please e-mail us.
Please understand that the time it takes for us to respond
will increase as the big event approaches.

Mindy writes:

Payment or arrangements made with me due by April 12th. I
have to make the payment to the course on the 13th. We have
a deposit so if you contact me for special arrangements we
can work it out. But please don't assume that if you don't
pay by the 12th unless I give you the offical OK you will
have a place.

Everyone playing must be confirmed one way or another by
Midnight April 12th. Other Annie and I are on the line for
this so please contact me if you have any issues. I will post
a paid or accepted list on the 11th.

Heads up! :)

Sunday, April 11 (time flies! one week from today!), will
be the last batch of activity sign-up mailings. You must have
a validated registration by Sunday, April 11, at about 8:00am
CDT in order to sign up for many of the optional activities.

Monday, April 12, at about 11:00pm CDT will be the cutoff for
all on-line activity sign-ups and changes. After that time,
participation in activities which require a sign-up, if
space is available, must be arranged with the activity
coordinators in person during DLV.

Monday, April 12, will be the deadline for payments and/or
arrangements for golf. See details above. This supercedes
a previously-announced date.

Wednesday, April 14, at about 1:00am CDT will be the cutoff
for general registration for DLV 2009.

Thursday, April 15, will be the deadline for payment for the
Murder Mystery Dinner Theater. See activity sign-up screen for
payment instructions.

On Friday, April 16, we will begin holding any correspondence
received for a response after DLV has concluded. We cannot
guarantee a timely response to any items submitted by e-mail
on or after Friday, April 16.

Saturday, April 17, will be the deadline for cancellations for
the Limo Tour. See Limo Tour payment deadlines below, these
have changed since last year.

Saturday, April 17, 5:00pm PDT is the deadline for pre-payment
for the Limo Tour via Glamour Boutique. Limo Tour payments
after April 17, must be made in person at the activities
designated on the activity sign-up screen.

Tuesday, April 20, 12:00 noon PDT will be the deadline for
payment for the English High Tea. See activity sign-up screen
for prepayment info. Payment in person may be made at any major
DLV activity prior to or during Monday evening.

Tuesday, April 20, 6:00pm PDT is the deadline for payment for
the Limo Tour. See payment instructions on the activity sign
up screen and in the Large Final Mailing. Those on the waiting
list may "bump" those unpaid as of this time. See "waiting

Activity sign-up:

Activity sign-up is in full swing. Everyone who holds a
validated DLV 2010 registration as of Saturday afternoon
should have received their activity sign-up e-mail. If you
have not received this, please let us know, as something is
wrong.

Please visit the activity sign-up screen and submit a response
even if you don't wish to do any of the optional activities.
This reconfirms your intent to attend and participate.

The Large Final Mailing:

On or about April 14, all validated attendees will receive
what we call the Large Final Mailing.

Please watch for this, and let us know if you do not
receive this by April 15 at the very latest.

This year we will again be passing out a hardcopy summary
schedule and DLV activity map, but this will only contain
a fraction of the information that you will need to make
the most of DLV.

The Large Final Mailing will include such things as:

. "Bare Minimum" section as a "quick-start" guide.
. Your personalized final confirmation and itinerary.
. Final detailed schedule, including activity locations.
. Behavior, dress and restroom guidelines.
. Daily hotel get-together information.
. Late notices.
. Check-in instructions.
. Contact phone numbers.
. Big Sister Emergency Hotline number.
. Diva Las Vegas Photo Guidelines.
. Discounts and promotions.
. Link to detailed activity maps.

Please be watching for this. It will arrive in your inbox
in several sections. Please let us know if you do not
receive it or any part of it.

Arriving, making contact, checking in:

"Check-in", from a DLV perspective, is when you make contact
with a DLV check-in host or hostess and your name is marked
as "present" on our roster.

This is distinctly different from any hotel check-in function.
In most cases the hotel desk staff will not know what "Diva
Las Vegas" is, or how to contact the group. You will get the
DLV contact details in the Large Final Mailing as outlined
above.

At the time you check in with DLV, you'll also get your DLV
name badge, and you can express any question or concerns
which you may have.

If you're new and do not know anyone, please ask the host
or hostess to have you introduced around.

You can check in at any DLV activity which is marked
"Check-in available" on the final detailed schedule.
Although most of the checking-in will be done at the
Sunday and Monday activities, check-in will be available
each day at the daily lunch and at several other designated
activities.

Don't worry, if the first activity you want to do does
not have check-in available, you will still be able to
participate as long as your name appears on the DLV roster.
You may just have to wait to get your name badge and such.

If you have any difficulty finding any of our venues, or
finding the group when you have arrived at a venue, find
a phone and give one of our contact people a call. We will
get you on the right track.

Two additional Hotel Hostesses needed:

We are in need of two additional volunteers for DLV 2010.

Holly reports that the Hotel Hostess positions for the Sahara
and the Imperial Palace are covered, but we are still in need
of hostesses for Harrah's and Paris.

The primary duty of the Hotel Hostesses will be coordinating
an informal daily get-together on the property. The hostesses
may appoint assistants as needed.

Hotel Hostess duties will not involve any kind of "duty hours"
or "watchstanding" duties other than the daily gatherings.

Holly sends in this note regarding qualifications:

>Qualifications to be a Host(ess)- Must be confident, outgoing,
>and enjoy being around people and helping them. Staying in the
>hotel where you are hosting is a plus but not required. Ideally,
>the main host(ess) at each hotel will be in town for the entire
>event.

If you are interested in acting as a Hotel Hostess for either
Harrah's or Paris, please reply to this mailing.

Since the daily hotel gatherings will be scheduled DLV
activities, this will qualify you for voting status within
the DLVORG group for DLV 2011.

NSD status:

We regretfully announce that the Night Of The Soiled Doves,
previously planned for DLV 2010, will not take place.

As JoAnn writes:

The NSD is not on the schedule but plan on it for next year.

We had logistics and deposits which required a greater number of
sign-ups than planned.

So without more time to promote the event the NSD will have a Diva
hiatus this year.
