Welcome to those who just registered or joined the list.

If you're new here, please take a moment and catch up with the back

We've just passed the 60 day mark! Our registration count is now 77
plus 12 SO's, for a total of 89 as of this time. Even though we are
forecasting an extremely heavy turnout for DLV 2003, we do not
anticipate having to cut off registrations this year.

On the week of March 10, just over two weeks from today, we will begin
our activity sign-up. Stay tuned for information regarding this.

Our DLV Discussion Forum (http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv2003/dlvdisc/)
has become quite active lately with several conversations on a wide
variety of DLV-related topics.

DLV e-mail directory:

The past several years we've always published an e-mail directory of our
participants right after DLV. This year we've received some requests to
do this early, like now.

This is distributed only to those who submit their names to the list.

If you would like to participate in this, just send in your listing with
your name and e-mail address in the body of a message to dlv@geekbabe.com
with the subject "E-mail directory".

This will be started over from scratch. Names on the list last year will
not automatically appear this year. Also, people who responded to the
query on the DLV Discussion List and stated they would like to see this
happen should send in a note to be added to the list as well.

One caveat: Although this is done in good faith, and we ask our people
to use it only for personal correspondence with others on the list,
there are no guarantees that it will not be misused.

Assuming we get a minimal number of responses, the first edition of the
DLV 2003 email directory will be sent out in about a week.

appropriate link.

The Confirmation Number you get when you register will be your password
to the update page. If you have misplaced or forgotten this, visit the
above URL and follow the link to recover a lost confirmation code.

If for some reason you are unable to register on the web, or if you
would prefer not to, you may register the "low-tech" way by sending

Room sharing:

DLV, just like any other event where people pay for hotel rooms, can be
more affordable if people share rooms. We will have a "roommate clearing
house" in this mailing list.

If you've already booked a room, and would like for somebody else to
stay with you and share the expense, or if you're looking for somebody
who has extra space, please write to this list (dlv@geekbabe.com) with
the word "Roommate" somewhere in the subject line. Please include the
following items in your e-mail:

1. Your name.

2. Your e-mail address.

3. What date you will be arriving and what date you will be departing.

4. Do you have a room to share, or do you need space in one.

5. Any annoying habits or traits you have. (Do you smoke, do you snore,
are you a very early riser, compulsive talker, late-nite MTV addict,
etc.)

6. Any additional notes or comments.

When we have roommate items, we will include them in a special ongoing
section toward the bottom of each DLV Announcement List mailing. Those
interested in sharing rooms can then contact each other by e-mail and
make arrangements.

Please remember, any roommate agreements are private arrangements
strictly between the people involved, and I or anybody else cannot be
responsible if things don't work out (etc. etc., yada-yada, you know the
drill).
