Welcome:

Welcome to all who just registered or joined the list. We've
picked up quite a few since our last mailing. We're looking
forward to seeing you in person in May.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.

E-mail is not a perfect medium. If you ever send anything
to DLV, expecting a response, and don't receive one, let us
know. If you ever receive an "undeliverable" or "bounce"
message when sending e-mail to DLV, please resend, and if
it keeps happening to you, see the emergency e-maiaddress
below.

Likewise, web applications are not perfect either. Thanks
to those who reported registration issues on Thursday. The
problem has been corrected. Please let us know if you have
any difficulty with or get any unexpected results from the
DLV registraiton screens.

For a preliminary headcount projection, the numbers appear to
be converging in the 150-ish range for a total headcount. It's
still very early. We'll be getting some more accurate numbers
once activity sign-up starts. Projections show a peak in
attendance around Wednesday and Thursday of DLV week.

Activity sign-up will begin on or about April 15. More details
on this will be given as the date approaches. We ask all to
please look over the working schedule in anticipation of
activity sign-up and be thinking of things you find to be
of interest.

For those who have not registered yet:

Here's what you need to do if you're starting out from scratch
and want to attend this year:

1. Read our web site carefully! Be sure you know what DLV is
and what DLV is not. We are quite a bit different from most
of the TG events that you're likely familiar with. Be sure to
read the Frequently Asked Questions list and the back mailings
of this list to get up to speed. See links below.

2. Register for DLV. This is not optional if you want to attend.

Only registered attendees will be admitted to our activities.
Yes, it is possible to "dress, drink, and hang around" without
registering, but if you do this, you will be missing out on
some very enjoyable experiences!

3. Make your travel and lodging arrangements, if necessary. As
of this time, hotel rates are still reasonable. See below for
a link to information about our suggested hotels.

4. Sign up for optional activities. This will begin around
April 15th.

5. If you have any questions or concerns, first check the FAQ
(link below) or ask. The Discussion Forum is the best place to
ask, but if you have a question or concern that you don't want

If you have recently registered:

We've had a number of people register since general registration
opened who did not previously appear on our mailing list.

If you are one of these recent registrees, first of all, welcome,
we're looking forward to having you with us. A few notes for you
in particular:

1. Be sure you know what we are and what you registered for. If
you are expecting a High Desert clone of Be-All or Colorado Gold
Rush, you may very well be disappointed. We are not based on the
model used for most of the other TG events that you're likely to
know.

2. Please catch up on the back mailings (link below) to get "up
to speed" on things. Yes, there's a lot of material to cover,
but if you are well-informed on things, you'll have a much
better time at DLV.

3. Be sure you make your travel and lodging arragements without
any further delay. Hotel rates are very good this year. See hotel
info below.

4. If you are any way unsure or apprehensive about attending, let
us know. Let us know your concerns, the sooner the better. If you
need some one-on-one assistance or assurance, we'll get you in
touch with one of our Big Sisters.

About admirers:

There's been some chat over on the DLV Discussion Forum
regarding admirers.

The bottom line is, yes, admirers, both male and female, are
most welcome at DLV. Period! QED! Admirers have been with us
since the very early days of DLV with very few issues.

If you're an admirer, male or female, who wants to attend
DLV, please don't be apprehensive about it. The group is very
open and accepting of all.

In addition to the "suggested reading" listed below, we have
two specific pages on our web site which will be of interest
to admirers who want to attend.

for men who wish to attend DLV:

Attention MSN and Hotmail users:

Again this year it has been reported that some e-mail to DLV
has erroneously been returned as undeliverable. This appears
to be isolated to users of msn.com and hotmail.com addresses.

Should you ever have difficulty sending e-mail to DLV at the
main address, please forward your returned message(es), with
all headers and "gobbledegook" intact to the following
alternate "emergency" e-mail address:

dlvemergency@yahoo.com

We have again been unable to duplicate this problem in
testing from a hotmail address, but we have received a
report of this again happening this year.
