Looking forward:

Everybody wants to know how many we'll have this year!

As of this time we have 132 validated attendees signed up.

We appear to be on target for a total turnout in the 160 to
190 range. One thing to remember is that at DLV, you will
never see the entire group in any one place at any one time.
The largest single gathering of our people will be Monday
evening at our Welcome Celebration.

A special Big Sister request:

We have a special need for additional Big Sister volunteers
who will be present during the early days (Sun-Tue) of DLV
week. We've had a number of Big Sister requests from those
who will be present at the beginning of the week who need
the assistance of Big Sisters during that time. Unfortunately
the best-fit matches with our Big Sister volunteers are with
those who will be present later in the week.

If you are a returnee who will be present during the first
part of DLV week, please consider volunteering to be a Big
Sister and lending a hand to those just coming out.

You can volunteer to be a Big Sister either on the web, on
your registration screen, or by e-mailing: bigsister@geekbabe.com

DLV 2010 registration is open, both for returnees and for
newcomers who are members of this list. Use the appropriate
URL below to register for DLV 2010:

A few notes on registration:

1. The automated registration process saves us an awful lot
of work. We appreciate everyone's cooperation. If, during
registration, anything does not work as expected, let us
know. If things continue to be troublesome for you, we can
register you manually if it is necessary. The important
thing is to let us know, as soon as is posisble, if you
have any difficulty.

2. This may seem obvious, but each year it's subject to
some misunderstanding. If you wish to participate in DLV
2010, you will need to register using one of the methods
described above. We will not be admitting unannounced
"walk-ins" to our activities. Joining the mailing list,
joining the Yahoo group, or even sending a note "I will
be there" will not be adequate. Your cooperation with the
registration process is appreciated.

3. Couples only need to register once. Both individuals
are covered on the one registration. See the notes on the
registration screen for further info.

4. Very important. When you register, you should receive
either a validation e-mail or a confirmation e-mail
very shortly. IN THE EVENT YOU RECEIVE ABSOLUTELY
NOTHING AFTER YOU REGISTER, SOMETHING IS WRONG
AND WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT. Sorry to shout, but each
year we have to deal with this 1-2 times.

Notes and highlights:

A few recent additions to our line-up of activities:

* Roller Derby Boot Camp.

This will be on the training track with the Las Vegas High
Rollers Roller Derby team. Two sessions are planned, on
Tuesday and Thursday of DLV week. You can attend either
or both.

This is the real thing!

There's been quite a bit of discussion about this on the
DLV Discussion Forum recently. Further details will be
announced as the date approaches.

* Art Tour

Not one, not two, but THREE sessions this year, on Sunday,
Monday, and Tuesday of DLV week!

We'll be visiting the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art,
a new art exhibit at the City Center, and the Arts Factory.

Golf has been confirmed for Tuesday. Golfers of all backgrounds
and skill levels are encouraged to participate.

Things to come:

Here's a run-down of things that will be happening in the
next couple of months.

Activity sign-up:

The next big milestone on the road to DLV 2010 is activity
sign-up.

This will begin on or about April 1. This is where you tell
us which of the optional activities you will be doing.

Although many of our activities are presented on a "no
sign-up, just show up" basis, there are some which will
require a headcount, some kind of a hoop-jump (like the
purchase of a show ticket), and maybe even a prepayment.

On or about April 1, everybody who holds a validated
registration will receive a link to their own personal
activity sign-up screen. This will include a description
of each activity, including conditions and payment info,
and you can select which of the activities you will want
to do.

In most cases, you'll be able to change your mind freely
if you wish, and edit your selections at any time up to
cut-off.

Activity sign-up is of particular importance this year, as
several of our popular optional activities are expected to
fill up and go into a waiting list state.

Large Final Mailing:

Just prior to DLV, all validated attendees will receive
what we call the Large Final Mailing.

Yes, this year we will again be passing out a hardcopy
summary schedule and DLV activity map, but this will only
contain a fraction of the information that you will need
to make the most of DLV.

The Large Final Mailing will include such things as:

. "Bare Minimum" section as a "quick-start" guide.
. Your personalized final confirmation and itinerary.
. Final detailed schedule, including activity locations.
. Behavior, dress and restroom guidelines.
. Daily hotel get-together information.
. Late notices.
. Check-in instructions.
. Contact phone numbers.
. Big Sister Emergency Hotline number.
. Diva Las Vegas Photo Guidelines.
. Discounts and promotions.
. Link to detailed activity maps.

Arriving and checking in:

You can check in at any DLV activity which is marked
"Check-in available" on the final detailed schedule.
Although most of the checking-in will be done at the
Sunday and Monday activities, check-in will be available
each day at the daily lunch and at several other designated
activities.

Don't worry, if the first activity you want to do does
not have check-in available, you will still be able to
participate as long as your name appears on the DLV roster.
You may just have to wait to get your name badge and such.
