DLV 2010 record attendance:

After accounting for as many stragglers as we could account
for, our semi-final grand total headcount for DLV 2010 is 178,
which breaks the standing record, set in 2008, by two.

During DLV 2010 we also saw our highest-attended function
of all time, Monday's Welcome Celebration, which had 108
present when the count was taken.

Friday's Farewell Dinner and Social had a headcount of 98
when the count was taken.

Thanks again to all involved for making DLV 2010 one of
the most successful events in our history!
. . . . .

Mailing in error:

Due to a keystroke error, some on the general DLV mailing
list received an inadvertent nag-o-gram last Thursday, which
was intended for those who have been tentatively flagged as
"no-shows" for DLV 2010.

Sorry for any misunderstandings or inconvenience.

Now, if only the response rate were as good for the no-shows
as it was for those who received the mailing in error! :)

Photo staging area:

Everyone who attended DLV 2010 should have now received
a special mailing containing a personal link to the DLV
2010 photo staging area.

All removal requests received by Saturday morning 0600 CDT
have been processed.

Photos from DLV 2010 are intended to remain confidential
among attendees until all have had a chance to review the
submitted photos. Your understanding and cooperation are
appreciated by all.

This is your own personal link. Please do not post the
link anywhere or share with others. Any links to the
photo staging area that show evidence of "leaking" will
be disabled.

IF YOU ATTENDED AND DID NOT RECEIVE THIS, SOMETHING
IS WRONG AND WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT!

This mailing will include instructions on what to do to
request removal of any photos you don't like in which you
appear.

The photo staging area will remain on line until mid August.

A two-week warning will be given in a general mailing when
the photo staging area is about to close. Please check
the staging area frequently, as new photos will be posted
as they come in.

DLV 2010 Attendee Survey - Two-week warning:

The DLV 2010 Attendee Survey will conclude at the end of
May, in about two weeks.

A set of preliminary survey reports will be posted in the
DLV Discussion Forum shortly after June 1.

We're asking all who attended to please take this survey.

If you attended, and have not yet taken the survey, please
do so.

You can take the survey by clicking here:

If you wish to comment further, or you wish to comment in
the first person in your name, please send your comments,
both positive and negative, to: dlv@geekbabe.com

Thanks to all for giving us very valuable feedback!

Call For Volunteers continues:

All of those great times you just had were made possible
because somebody stepped forward and made those activities
happen!

Planning and organization of DLV is done mostly on line via
e-mail. It's interactive and participatory. Volunteers form
what we call the DLVORG group.

DLVORG people participate at the decision-making level, the
organizing and planning level, and at the nuts-and-bolts level.

All of our activities were "adopted" by one or more of our
volunteers, who jumped through the necessary hoops to make
them happen.

Most of the real "work" involves planning activities and making
the activities happen. (And I say "work" in quotes, because it
can actually be a lot of fun!)

If you're sincere about wanting to do your part to make a great
thing even better, to give back what DLV has given to you, and
help to run an event that has literally changed lives, please
step forward!

To volunteer, please do one of the following:

Visit the URL:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlvvol1.html

Fill out the screen and check a few things, click SUBMIT, and
you're on your way!

Alternatively, simply send a brief e-mail message to
dlvorg@geekbabe.com and state you wish to volunteer. (Or, just
reply to this mailing and state that you wish to volunteer.)

Please include a sentence or two stating how you are most
interested in helping out.

Yes, it's fine to conditionally volunteer. "I'll help out but
I don't know if I can attend next year ..." is fine. Likewise
is something like "I'll plan the High Tea if nobody else wants
to do it."

If you're a bit shy, that's fine. We'll find something for you
where you don't have to go cold-calling vendors or anything
like that.

Please consider helping out with DLV 2011. :)

Think Pink:

Please join us for our Tenth Annual Pinkfest!

If you enjoyed DLV you'll certainly enjoy Pinkfest?

What is Pinkfest?

I'm glad you asked. :)

Pinkfest is a vacation, not a convention. (Sound familiar?)

It happens each October in Chicago. It's much smaller than
DLV, but it's a lot of fun!

Pinkfest has no official connection to DLV, but the roots
of both are intertwined. Yes, if you attend Pinkfest you're
sure to see some familiar faces. :) Likewise, we have a good
mix of mainstream and alternative venues and facilities at
Pinkfest.

Pinkfest 2010 will happen Thursday, October 21 - Sunday,
October 21. Information is on line at:

http://www.pinkmyst.com/pinkfest/

We have an announcement/discussion mailing list for Pinkfest.
It's militantly spam-free. To join, just send a brief e-mail
to: pinkfest@pinkmyst.com

The content of this list is reflected in the Pinkfest Yahoo
group at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pinkfest

(You must be a Yahoo member and logged in to access the
Pinkfest Yahoo group.)

Content will be exactly the same on both media.

Hope to see you at Pinkfest in Chicago this October. :)

Call For Photos continues:

Thanks to all who have sent in photos. The first few batches
of photos are now on line.

You can submit photos by any of several methods, including
e-mail, FTP, and snailmail.

Here's the link to the FAQ section regarding photos:

For further information on the Call For Photos, please
read our recent general mailing which covers the topic.

Vendor List update:

Thanks to all who have provided new vendors, updates, and
comments for our Big List of recommended (and not recommended)
merchants and vendors.

We invite all to take a look at our recently-updated Big
List on the web at:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/vendors/

If you've patronized any of these recently, please feel
free to add comments and ratings. If you see anything that
is missing, please add a new vendor to the list.

The Big List is our most "hit on" page from web searches.

Thanks to all who have participated in this project!
