Staff Vs. General Public (was Caesar's Palace)

There are two sides to the being in public coin, the Paid Staff side and
the General Public side.

>From what I have seen recently in ads and other places, Las Vegas is
attempting to regain it's "Adult" image. After years of going after the
family ($) they want big kids ($$$) to come and play once again. The ad
that left me with an open jaw focused on a woman who REALLY enjoyed the
limo ride from the airport, but when she arrived at the hotel appeared
to be business only. The driver was aware of her behavior, but was
professional as the voice-over said "What you do here, Stays here."

I don't know if that is the message they are using in training for all
the host staff in the area, but it sure makes me think they want to open
up the town to consenting adults again. If anyone knows for sure if this
was a test campaign or if it is the new image L.V. is projecting, I'd
like to hear. Even before this ad, I started feeling a bit more
comfortable in the hotel/casino as well as the TG environment.

I guess my concerns are less with the hotel and casino staff than it is
with the residents and other visitors, the General Public side of the
coin. My impression is that just passing through an area is not an
issue, maybe a stare or two at worst. If you stay in one public spot for
a while there is a chance for some drunk or a zealot to do something. I
can see that by spending that stationary time at known TG-friendly
locations would reduce that risk.

That would leave few opportunities for the negative encounter most
everyone would prefer to avoid. Ignoring them or leaving are the first
things that come to mind, but I've not had that kind of experience yet.
I look to the advice of more experienced sisters on techniques that end
these quickly and quietly.

Hope to see you there.

I guess I never will understand what it is about Vegas that attracts
children, non-drinkers, churchgoers, and people who basically go through
life with boards up their asses.

It would be nice if there were one place left where people could go and
cut loose, but when you're in a group with any of the aforementioned,
the party always seems to die an excruciating death, and given a mass
influx, a party town doesn't stand a chance.

I have an idea for an activity... let's all stand around and talk about
how horrible the world is, with its drinkers, drug users, aldulterers,
homosexuals and crossdressers that only Jesus can save us from. Then
we'll all get smashed, do a little pot or nitrous, shove some coke up
our noses, dress up like Tammy Faye Bakker and jump into the hotel pool.

Rendezous afterward at the Del-mar for some hot gay sex.

Any seconds on that one? I'm willing to coordinate it. ;)

Wow, uh, if that doesn't get the conversation going, I don't know what
will! :)

One factor to consider is that the Great Disneyland Experiment<tm>
(which was driven by the quest for $$$) has failed and there is now a
swing in the other direction. Look at the past several casinos which
have opened (GVR, Tuscany, Palms, Cannery) and you will not see a single
one that targets family vacationers.

IMAO, those who bring kids to Las Vegas are many times inconsiderate (of
the kids) or clueless.

As for WCTU-wannabees and proselytizers, self-appointed guardians of the
public morals gravitate to places where they think they are needed. :)

Oh well ...

There ya go. I know someone who keeps talking about taking the kids to
Vegas, but I have no doubt that your comment will dissuade him.

Or maybe not.

In this case, the kids go to Vegas because they love it and they keep
asking to go, which is why I am puzzled about what the attraction is for
them. Maybe they know that the parents can't have any fun while they're
there, which seems to be the motivation for most of what children do.

Anyway, it's everyone else's kids who are the problem, right?

You would think, when it comes to Vegas, that they would be able to
shake the dust from their feet and move on...but suppose the church
offered a free trip? I would take it, I mean...what they wouldn't know
wouldn't hurt them, and you can always pray for forgiveness later.

Can see it now..."Yes, I did the Lord's work in Vegas. I made a young
lady see God, right there in the Del-Mar motel! Can't wait to go back
and save some more souls...can I have another plane ticket and a hundred
bucks? Praise Jesus!"

There is a party town of which you describe - Amsterdam. If you live on
the East Coast, it is only slighty more expensive to fly there than it
is to fly to Las Vegas.

Not much of a TG scene, but a huge gay population, and everyone is
fairly mellow (undoubtedly due to the ready availability of legal hash).

They are clueless. There is an unfortunate recurring incidence at
Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos in Connecticut of nitwits bringing
their kids to the casino, and leaving them in the car in the parking
lot.

Some kids may like it. Those I've seen there mostly look like they're
bored silly.

Well, since I don't have any, I guess that's true. :)

Amsterdam sounds great. I always wanted to go there, but my ass is
still sore from the last time I went through airport security.

That's pretty stupid. They should take them to Sahara and abandon them
at the arcade, like everyone else does.

And here in Utah they just leave them in the car without the benefit of
a casino or an arcade. They just can't keep them in the car since there
aren't enough seatbelts and Dad is using the duct tape to seal up the
house instead of securing the extra kids to the roof of the family
minivan.

Sorry if I got your Blood Pressure up. I'll ask Annie to screen all my
questions and comments in the future. I don't know how anyone could
possibly miss DLV this year. If this discussion serves as an example it
should be totally entertaining.
