Yahoo e-mail issues ...

Ladies (and Gentlemen),

We've received multiple reports over the past week or so of issues reading various DLV material via Yahoo mail. This appears to mainly affect the DLV Organizers List, but has been reported on other lists as well. The symptom is that messages received via Yahoo mail appear as "runt" messages, where the body of the message appears to be blank.

Although we have not been able to duplicate the issue, the reports have been frequent and verified as accurate.

We realize that it is more and more important to have reliable two-way communication between the DLV attendees and the DLV leadership as we approach our big event next month.

For those of you who have been affected by this, we suggest the following work-arounds until this issue is solved:

1. Read the relevant items using the archives on the web. The archives of our general announcement mailing list appear on the web here:

Archives of the DLV Organizers List may be accessed via the URL listed at the end of all ORG list mailings. Write in if you have difficulty finding or accessing this.

2. Forward the apparently-blank message to a known-working non-yahoo account. Tests show that, when forwarded, the body of the message is intact. This also indicates that the messages in question are received and stored properly on the Yahoo system, but the issue is with the actual retrieval of the messages.

3. Have your mailings either temporarily or permanently sent to a non-Yahoo account. Just write in and tell us what e-mail address to use.
