For the past couple of years Pinkfesters have attended the PFLAG LGBT
film series at the Oak Park Public Library. This year they are showing a
transgender related documentary on the Sunday before Pinkfest - October
7. The show time is usually in the early afternoon, 834 Lake Street Oak
Park, IL 60301.
This is a great event in a beautiful venue. There is always a good sized
friendly crowd. This year's film looks fantastic "Trans" the movie. You
can see the trailer here: http://www.transthemovie.com/
I am planning to go, and will probably go to Bar Louie for food and
drinks afterwards. Is anyone interested?
Oak Park is a very LGBT friendly community. The Oak Park library has
really reached out to create a friendly environment for the trans and
gender variant community through their Transgender resource collection,
film series and policies - even to the signage on the restrooms. BTW, if
you are a little nervous about going out to mainstream venues outside of
bars, this is a great place to start!
Anyway, it sounds like fun. Anyone want to go? Let me know.
