Welcome to everybody who just joined the list. We've had quite a few
list joins over the last few days. Hope to see all of you in a couple
of weeks. :)
Yes, there is still time to get in on Pinkfest, but don't procrastinate.
The most important single thing you'll need to do if you want to attend
is to make your hotel reservations. See discussion on hotel rooms below.
Another thing you will want to do is to catch up on things happening
by reviewing archives of this list, which are on line at:
http://www.geekbabe.com/annie/pink06arc/
http://www.pinkmyst.com/pinkfest/pinkfaq.html
A preliminary schedule has been posted there. Updated schedule will be
sent out in about a week or so.
If you're totally new to Pinkfest, you might also want to check out the
main web page, on line at:
http://www.pinkmyst.com/pinkfest/
To "register" for Pinkfest, all you do is announce your intent to attend
here. Just reply to this mailing or write: pinkfest@pinkmyst.com
For some activities, Elena will be sending out a headcount request. This
will be for things we need reservations for. Most of our activities are
on a no-sign-up, just-show-up basis. :)
As far as hotels, you're pretty much on your own to decide where you're
going to stay, as Pinkfest is not centered around any hotel.
The bad news, hotel-wise, is that rooms in the downtown Chicago area are
almost universally sold out for the Pinkfest weekend or are going at a
totally obscene price.
The good news is that there are plenty of reasonably priced hotel rooms
in the suburbs. If you want a suggestion for a place to stay, we do have
a few others staying at the Days Inn Elk Grove Village on Higgins Road.
This is right next door to one of the favorite Pinkfest clubs, but you
will need a vehicle or will have to arrange for a ride to most other
activities.
2 weeks 2 go! Getting close. Hope to see all of you there! :)
