It seems like there is a slight preference toward the October 12 - 15
timeframe for Pinkfest 2006.
Are there any serious objections to this timeframe?
If so, please speak now.
. . . . .
Some various comments and feedback about the dates ... and other items.
In no particular order ...
>This year I'm seriously considering going (if it is going to be held in
>Chicago)
Yes, it will be held in Chicago. I should probably qualify that to say
the greater Chicago area, since I'm sure some things will be happening
in River Grove, Oak Park, and Elk Grove Village. :)
>I never been to this event, were and how can I get details of past ones
>to have some idea what outfits how many and so on I will need .
The Pinkfest web site is http://www.pinkmyst.com/pinkfest/
Unfortunately it may be a bit stale. Somebody {blush} still has to get
the Pinkfest 2005 photos on line. {hiding} :)
I guess I should hurry up and do this before we make any kind of big
announcement, huh?
>I'm going to the BE-ALL in June how does pinkfest compare to it?
The two events are so unlike each other there is no real comparison.
Pinkfest is much smaller, much more informal, and, IMAO, a lot more fun
than the conventions. Pinkfest is very much "out on the town", and the
conventions are centered around a hotel conference center.

>My vote would be for Oct 5-8 or 12-15. Either is fine by me. Columbus
>Day is Monday the 9th (bank holiday for some) and Wed. the 11th is
>National Coming Out Day (started in 1985 I believe). Fantasia Fair
>starts on Sunday the 15th, but I doubt that will be a problem for
>Pinkfest attendees.
I agree that FanFair and Pinkfest will probably not pose a conflict
for too many of our people. There are other events in the fall as
well.

>I vote for the usual time we have it, 3rd or 4th week of October:)
>If we go to Gentry and that pianist we had last year is there... He is
>gonna get an earful (xxx))
LOL! That guy was funny, but I have to admit he was crude to the point
of excess at times.
My hunch is that he will not be playing this year. Acts like that get
old very fast. Checking the Gentry web site, I don't seem to see his
name (Chris something?) listed. Hmmmm ... I'm not the only one behind
on web updates. They still are showing their May calendar. :)

>Are you going to go to Hunter's again?
If you want to, we will. :)
Speaking of Hunters, I missed that one last year. Was it better for
our group on the Friday than it was on Thursday?
. . . . .
>ME TOO! Hugs, Janna xo
Don't worry, Janna, we won't forget you. :)

>October 12 - 15 would be perfect for me.
>I might be able to come October 5 - 8, but would catch hell for missing
>an important weekend event. It is also very close to the date of the
>Southern Comfort Conference which is Sept 19 - 23 in Atlanta which is
>another complication for some of us.
No matter what timeframe we select, if it's in the fall, it will always
be close to other TG events on the calendar. In fact, Pinkfest came to
be partly because one of these was cancelled right after 9-11.
My feeling is that if there are no serious objections to Oct. 12-15,
we go for it.
