Events like Pinkfest (was Re: Going twice ...)

Pinkfest is one of a kind. There is nothing like it anywhere that
we know of. I'm not saying that from conceit or pride, it's just
a fact. It's totally different from everything else there is.

The closest thing to Pinkfest is Diva Las Vegas, but DLV is much
larger and has a much different look and feel.

The one thing that Pinkfest and DLV have in common are that they
are vacations, and not conventions. Activities are participatory
and recreational or leisure in nature. No seminars, no vendor
hall and no "Rubber Chicken Banquet", we promise. :) :) Both of
them grew from the same on-line community way back in the early
1950s.

Most of the other TG events are conventions, and most are based
on the same model.

Some of us have been accused {blush} of putting these down. I
say that if you like these things, then do them. They give a
lot of people some very good exposure and some very badly needed
girl time.

Fantasia Fair is the oldest, SCC is the largest. All of them
have a profoundly loyal following.

Not that I know of. There's been talk on a couple occasions of
doing kind of a DLV spin-off in Hawaii, but it's never been
seriously proposed. Travel expense is the main deterrent.

One of our Pinkfest regulars is now representing DLV (and Pinkfest)
in a cooperative council of TG events. One thing that we hope to
happen is an up-to-date and accurate listing of TG events and we
will link to that as soon as it happens.
