Pinkfest 2007!

First of all, welcome to those who are new to the Pinkfest mailing
list. We picked up quite a few from DLV 2007, and it looks like
Ginger picked up a number from her efforts.

Anyway, it's time to get things going for Pinkfest 2007.

For those who are used to the way DLV works, or the way the other
major TG events work, Pinkfest is much less formal.

You "register" just by sending a note in here saying you intend to
join us. You sign up for optional things when a headcount e-mail
goes out. You pay for things on the spot, nothing up front.

The first item on our agenda is setting the timeframe.

Pinkfest has historically run from Thursday evening thru the
following Sunday evening. That's not in stone, but it seems to
be a popular timeframe, both for those who are local to the
Chicago area and for those coming from out of town.

Ginger and I are suggesting one of the following two timeframes:

First choice: Thursday evening, October 11, thru Sunday evening,
October 14.

Second choice: Thursday evening, October 4, thru Sunday evening,
October 7.

The floor is now open for your comments on either of the two
timeframes. Just reply to this mailing to either salute either
of the above, or to flip them the bird. :)

What we're particularly interested in are absolute brick-wall
conflicts. If you're somebody who will ABSOLUTELY 100% MAKE IT
on one of the timeframe, but are ABSOLUTELY 100% LOCKED OUT if
the other one is selected, please speak up, as that's something
that we need to consider.

We would like to have the timeframe set so we can make a definite
announcement in the next DLV general mailing, which will come out
shortly after July 15.

As to hotels for those coming in from out of town, you basically
have two choices. First, downtown and River North hotels, which
can be anywhere from almost-reasonable to obscenely spendy in
price, and suburban motels, which are far more reasonable, but
somewhat away from the center of the action (except for one noted
case). We'll discuss hotels in some later mailings.

As for the daily schedule of activities, as of now it's a blank
slate, but we'll fill this in, and yes, all of you have a say as
to what, where, when, etc. Most of the exciting things do occur
in the evening and night, sometimes extending to the wee hours,
but in recent years we've had a regular Lunch With Ginger (as
we do at DLV) each day and such things as vendor open house sessions
in the afternoon.

We do have a list of "must-do" things and others that have been
popular during Pinkfests of past, and we can build upon that. Of
course, new and different things are encouraged. We are allowed to
think outside the box, to use the buzzword-compliant term. :)

Anyway, please be thinking about, and commenting about the timeframe.

Well, you were there last year, sortakinda. :)

Well, uh ... well, maybe in another life? :)

Seriously, if you like Be-All, then do Be-All. It's just not my
thing. Each to his/her own. Some like frankfurters, others prefer
fish. If we all liked everything, this would be a very boring
world. :)

I do hope you make more of Pinkfest this year. :)

Hi!

Well, frankfurters are good, if suggestive to the lewd mind?? LOLOLOLOL

Anyway, I understand, it would just be nice to see you more than once per
year, and since I cannot get out to DLV, I guess Pinkfest is the only time?

BTW, Eden Lane (Colorado Gold Rush) was at Be-All this year. What a babe! I
wish I could be her when i grow up, which would be interesting, since I am
older than her??
