Hi Valarie,

I'm a little bummed...

I arrived at Smith & Wollensky last night a little before 6:00 and
waited around for about 40 minutes, kept checking with reservations but
nobody came.

I didn't realize that you sent this message at 5:10pm, 50 minutes before
deciding to change the venue to Dick's Last Resort.

Unfortunately I didn't have any contact numbers to call so I went home
disappointed.

Can you please tell Annie and Ginger, you just can't change or cancel an
event the last minute without plenty of notice.

I'll let those who made the decision to switch venues defend the decision.

This (lack of contact numbers) I am very concerned about! Everyone who RSVPd should have received three phone numbers to contact. Did you not receive this? Please let me know so I can backtrack and see where things went wrong.

Jia,

I am sorry we missed you. We made the decision based on having everyone present who had RSVP'd. We had decided that two big (and expensive) beef nights in a row felt like overkill (no pun intended). I volunteered to post an announcement hoping to catch any unplanned attendees. It was just around the corner and I suppose we should have left someone at S&W for a few minutes longer just in case.

Again, sorry to have missed you.

And that's where the process broke down. I sent out the contact info in two batches and did not send to those who RSVPd after the event was underway. Sorry! Lesson learned.

Valerie,

I had RSVP'd for the event but was not contacted during the day and
arrived right at 6:00pm.

I checked my messages all day before leaving for the 6:00 pm event and
to have an email arrive at 5:10 pm I was in route would have not
received it in time.

Someone should have been there or left a notice with Smith & Wollensky
that the reservation was cancelled and referred to a phone number or new
location. I felt totally left out and frustrated...
