I've gone back and forth between staying out in the 'burbs and staying downtown and I definitely enjoy Pinkfest better when I stay in the River North area and don't have a car.

The hotels page has a bunch of specific suggestions.

Personally, I like the ones that are very close to the subway/el such as Hilton Garden, Holiday Inn Express, and Hampton. These are also (for the most part) an easy walk to most of the places in River North that we use for activities.
