- Please take advantage of the DLV Group Text service and/or the
Activity Reminder Service, both which are available via the Attendee
Information Portal, to better keep in touch and to better keep on
schedule.
- Please be sure that you are using the final version of our
schedule! Many changes and additions have occured over the recent
few weeks!
- For most attendees with name tags, a QR code (a square bitmap) which
links to your Attendee Information Portal appears on the reverse side of
your name tag. To quickly access your Attendee Information Portal, simply
scan this QR code with most any smart phone. You can use this to quickly
review your signed-up activities and schedules.
- New attendees are designated by lavender name tags. Please make a
special effort to welcome these individuals and introduce yourself.
- We use the term "Happy Hour" to refer to
a social activity which may or may not
coincide with the times for promotional reduced beverage prices offered
by some venues.
- Those on waiting lists should consult the Waiting List Instructions
for the particular activities in the notes on the final detailed
schedule.
Weather:
Advance forecast for Las Vegas for DLV week (subject to change
at short notice):
Mostly sunny, highs in the high 70s to low 80s, lows in the 50s or 60s,
zero to 10% expected chance of rain, possibly breezy at
times. (Pack an umbrella. It doesn't rain that often in Las Vegas, but
when it does it POURS!)
Misc. legal items:
- Nevada law prohibits the
use of hand-held cell phones and hand-held texting devices when operating
a motor vehicle.
- Although possession and use of recreational marijuana is now allowed
by Nevada State Law, it may only be consumed in a private residence. It is
not legal to consume in a rented hotel room or in a public venue. It is not
legal to remove from Nevada using any means.
- DUI checkpoints have been reported, sporadically but consistently,
around the Las Vegas metro area. Recently-reported locations include
Flamingo Road and Decatur, along Boulder Highway between Sahara and
Flamingo, eastbound Tropicana just east of the Strip, Valley View and
Desert Inn Road, Rainbow and Blue Diamond Road, and eastbound
Flamingo between Koval and Paradise. Watch it!
Update: It is now the policy of the LVMPD to post a "Pre-Event Release"
on their web site in the days leading up to a planned sobriety checkpoint.
These releases are available to the public but are not conspicuously posted. The
releases almost always state the dates/times of the checkpoints and may
or may not include general or specific location information. Finding these
releases shall be an exercise for the student. :)
- Summons' for pedestrian infractions such as jaywalking and walking
against signals have been reported in downtown, the "Four Corners"
(Flamingo-Strip) area, and the Rio/Gold Coast area. Reported fines are in
the $100.00-ish range.
- Bike officers have been citing motorists who run a "stale
yellow" northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard (Strip) at Flamingo.
The officers are not visible south of the intersection.
Possible confusing vendor and venue names and locations:
We have a number of activities this year happening in venues
which have confusingly similar names or multiple locations
throughout the Las Vegas area.
Here's a summary of those activities happening in locations
which may be easily confused:
